1. You could say that a rural area is somewhere far from a city. There is usually a lot of farms and agriculture in these type of areas. The countryside is a rural area.

Urban means somewhere in the city. We could say New York is an urban area.

2. There are some differences between urban areas and rural areas in Norway, but there may also be some similarities. I guess some of the biggest cities in Norway include both rural and urban areas, and the transition between the city and the countryside is quite smooth. Take Oslo for example; we have a busy city centre with lots of shops, people and so on, but just a little up north from the city we have “Nordmarka”.

I have never been to India, but I think  that the differences between rural and urban are bigger than in Norway. I read that people living in the city/urban areas have better living conditions. Another big difference is the population density.

3. That is insane. It shows how big the differences are concerning consumption. Some get more than others do, which is unfair. It also shows how important it is to try to keep a sustainable lifestyle.

4. There could be many reasons to choose this type of lifestyle. It is very good for the environment to produce your food yourself, because most types of food (or other products) are often been transported a long way before it even gets to you. This is a more sustainable way of living. Another reason for living this way could be to distance yourself from all the stress by linving in the city.

·      - Produce your own food (or as much as possible)

·       -Walk or use your bike instead of a car if possible.

·       -Get a job close to where you live.

India- Introduction- writing 1

The woman walking does not seem that bothered. She is probably used to seeing people laying on the street and does not think about it that much. Perhaps she is thinking about what she is going to eat for dinner.

The elderly woman sitting down on the ground looks tired. She is probably thinking of when she is going to eat her next meal, It looks like she is the one taking care of the little boy laying on the ground. If that is the case she is probably worrying about his safety as well as her own.

The little boy seems to be asleep, but he is probably just resting. He is probably thinking about food as well, or perhaps he is thinking about his family.

Values

In this text I will reflect on different values and what they mean to people.

The film I have chosen as my main focus, is “Pursuit of happyness”.

Values is a term with many different meanings, depending on who you are and what you believe in. Values can differ between countries, social groups, individual people and so on. Most countries have some main values or principles that are important to the people living there. The USA for instance is known for some of their values such as faith, freedom and justice. Some people surround themselves with people who has got some of the same values as they do. Values shape who you are. Your values are shaped by the culture you live in, your local society, family, friends and more. Some families have different values than others. Values can also be connected to religion. Different religions may have different values. Even though values can differ quite a lot from family to family, from person to person or from country to country there are also so many in common all around the world. An example can be family. Family is something that most people see as something important.

In the film “Pursuit of Happyness”, many of the American values are presented. We witness a perfect example of the American dream. In the film, we meet Chris Gardner who is a hardworking husband, salesman and dad. Life is a bit hard at times for the little family. Chris is doing his very best to sell his products, but there is not a lot of interest. After a while his wife leaves both him and Christopher behind to go to New York. When she leaves, Chris has to work twice as hard with only one income. He has to pay rent, care for his son and the bills are piling up. The values that are important to him are very present in his actions. We can therefore say that the most important values of in this film are family, hard work and friendliness. At the end of the film, Chris gets a job at a big firm and everything ends well. This is also a perfect example of the American Dream.

Values are important in my opinion, because they may help you through difficult situations in life. They can also gather people together.

To conclude, values are something fundamental about life, like unwritten rules you keep to yourself or choose to share with others.

1. There were 13 colonies.

4. They declared their independence on July 4th in 1776 at the Second Continental Congress in Philadelphia.

SLAVERY AND THE CIVIL WAR

1. The first group of African slaves arrived in the new world in 1619.

2. The importation of new slaves was made illegal in 1807.

3. Abraham Lincoln became president in 1860.

4.  South Carolina left the union and and was followed by ten other states.

5. It was a document that said that there should be no more slavery, so it set the slaves free.

IN THE USA IN WW I AND WW II

1. We call it isolationism.

2. They entered the war because one of the American boats was attacked in 1917.

3. The league of Nations was formed to secure peace.

4. The US entered WW II in December 1941.

5. Harry S. Truman was responsible for dropping the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

6. The American men went to fight, so the American women started working to play their part in the war effort. This gave America a huge economic boost.

THE COLD WAR

1. It was a suprise because they had combined forces during in WW II.

2. The soviets were first into space with the launching of the Sputnik satellite.

3. Neil Armstrong said this.

4.  Ronald Reagen and Mikhail Gorbachev were central in the process of ending the Cold War.

American values

VIEWPOINTS

1. They do apply to other countries as well. There are many countries with many of the same values.

3. I see America as very diverse country, with many cultural differences. The Norwegian media presents America in a way that makes it look like a country with very few flaws. All the different foods, cities and cultural differences makes it seem so exciting and people get curious.

5. There are several values that I find important. Some of these are; Democracy, equality, freedom, justice and friendliness.

I think that democracy, equality, freedom and justice are all very important values in order to maintain peace. In my opinion, friendliness is also a very important value, because I think it is important to be nice to each other. Being friendly helps us build friendships and important relations.

6. My values probably come my friends, family and from experience.
